Alternative-Energy Expert To Speak At Whitworth

Alternative-Energy Expert to Present April 10 Great Decisions Lecture at Whitworth

Alternative-energy expert Jan Kreider will present the fourth lecture of the 51st annual Great Decisions Lecture Series at Whitworth University. The series features five speakers who focus on current political, cultural and economic subjects of interest to the international community. The public is invited to attend the lectures free of charge.
Kreider will present “Alternative Energy in the U.S. and Global Implications” on Thursday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Weyerhaeuser Hall’s Robinson Teaching Theatre at Whitworth. For more information, please call (509) 777-3270.
Kreider, Ph.D., P.E., is a professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the department of civil, environmental and architectural engineering. He is a co-founder of the Building Systems Program at C.U. Kreider has written six textbooks on solar and renewable energy, three books on building systems and other energy-related topics, and more than 100 peer-reviewed technical papers. For 10 years he was technical editor of the ASME Transactions Journal of Solar Energy Engineering. He is a member of the editorial board for the CRC Mechanical Engineering Handbook.
The final lecture of the Great Decisions series will take place on Thursday, April 24. The lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in Weyerhaeuser Hall’s Robinson Teaching Theatre at Whitworth. For information on the upcoming lecture, please call (509) 777-3270. Great Decisions 2008 is co-sponsored by the Whitworth Political Science Department and the university’s School of Global Commerce & Management.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private, liberal-arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The university, which has an enrollment of 2,600 students, offers 53 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
