Lands Council 3rd Annual Earth Day Tree Planting Event April 25th, 2009

The Lands Council is holding the 3rd Annual Earth Day Tree Planting Event on Saturday, April 25th, 2009 from 10am to 1pm.  Volunteers will plant along the shores of Hangman Creek at Campion Park (east side of Hwy 195, just north of Hatch Road).

Admission is free.  Please register to participate by April 19th, 2009 with Amanda Parrish at aparrish@landscouncil.org or at (509) 209-2852.

Dinner & Auction: “At the Table” with Main Market Co-op April 22nd, 2009

A fundraiser to help build the Main Market Co-op will be Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 from 6pm to 8pm.

This family-friendly event will be held at the Glover Mansion (321 W 8th Ave, Spokane).

Wild and Scenic Film Festival April 22nd, 2009 (Earth Day!)

Wild and Scenic Film Festival will be held at the Lair Building Auditorium at Spokane Community College April 22nd, 2009 from 6pm to 9pm.

This event is sponsored by Student Association for Nature and the Environment (SANE).

Admission is free, but donations will be gladly accepted.

Earth First Dinner at Sante April 18th, 2009

Before seeing David Suzuki at the Get Lit! program later, enjoy a local meal and conversation at Sante Restaurant & Charcuterie.  Dinner will start April 18th, 2009 at 5:30pm.  Admission is $18 per meal, $15 for Slow Food members.  Complimentary tastings of China Bend wines and others for purchase.

Spokane Valley Arbor Day: Spring into Action, April 18th, 2009

The Spokane Valley is celebrating Arbor Day with “Spring into Action: A Celebration of Environmental Awareness” at Mirabeau Point Park, by the picnic shelter, from 10am to noon.  Admission is free!  Events and activities will include:  Arbor Day tree planting ceremony, seedlings to take home, “green” information and Spring into Action pledge from the Pledge Tree.

“Unveil the Trail” Friends of the Centennial Trail April 18th, 2009

Volunteer clean up of the Centennial Trail for 2009 season!  The event will take place from 9am to 12pm.

Get Lit! Jane Smiley & Laurie Notaro April 16th, 2009

Get Lit! presents an Evening with author Jane Smiley (plus Laurie Notaro) will be held at the Bing Crosby Theater Thursday, April 16th, 2009 at 7:30pm.  Admission is $20, $10 for students.

Get Lit “Sustainability” discussion by Paul Roberts April 16th, 2009

“Sustainability: Living Lightly, Living Well” is this year’s theme for the Hagan Foundation Center for the Humanities at Spokane Community College. Paul Roberts will speak at 10:30am as a part of the Get Lit! festival.  The event is free and open to the public.

Winona La Duke Speaks March 17th, 2009

Winona La Duke will speak at two locations in Spokane on Tuesday, March 17th, 2009:

Spokane Falls Community College (Building 24, Rm 110) from 11:30am to 1pm.

Magic Lantern starting at 7:30pm. Some food will be available from Natural Start Bakery.

The cost for both of these events is free.

Food, Farmers and Fairs Potluck March 13th, 2009

Project HOPE, Riverfront Farm and Green Jobs Not Jails is presenting “Food, Farmers and Fairs: Their Role in Building Sustainable Neighborhoods.”  The potluck dinner will be held on Friday, March 13th, 2009 from 6pm to 8pm at Salem Lutheran Church (1428 W Broadway, Spokane).
